My Bio

EARLY NEWS:  My teaching career began immediately after graduating from what is now Rowan University, previously Glassboro State College.  I started as a Kindergarten teacher at a private school called Suburban Hills in Parsippany, NJ. Following my son's birth, who's currently 26 years old, I became Director of Education at Suburban Hills School in West Orange, NJ. I was in charge of the year round nursery and kindergarten programs, as well as, summer camp (Pre-K – grade 3) with 200 families. My responsibilities included welcoming new families, hiring staff, lifeguards, holding staff meetings, planning our weekly themed activities and arranging trips and special programs for our monthly calendar.

STARTING in HAWORTH: Following 18 years in that private setting, I started at Haworth Public School as an instructional aide in first grade, when Mrs. DiCarlo took her first maternity leave in 1999.

ELEMENTARY, BSI & TECH TEACHER: I have been teaching here in various capacities depending on student needs and numbers. I have taught Kindergarten for 7 years, as well as second grade. Many years ago I taught K - 6th grades in the old tech lab. Then in 2014, I started teaching technology to grades K -  3, in our brand new Primary Lab. I was concurrently teaching BSI (Basic Skills Instruction) with students from K - 4th. Last year I taught 2nd grade and this year 2020 - 2021, I'm returning to my first love - Kindergarten.

FAMILY: Both of my children are graduates of Montclair State University, my daughter is a Speech & Language Pathologist currently working with early intervention and my son now lives in Boston.
