Mrs. Angelica Talamo

Thank you for visiting my web page! My name is Mrs. Talamo and this is my third year teaching 1st grade at Haworth Public School. Prior to Haworth, I was a 3rd grade teacher in Wayne. I am so fortunate to continue my journey as not only a 1st grade teacher, but Student Council Advisor and School Store Coordinator. I am passionate about education, specifically continuing my own, to bring the most effective teaching strategies to my classroom. I recently completed my Orton Gillingham Certification through Fairleigh Dickinson University. I infuse these multisensory strategies into our word study and reading programs to ensure each child has an equitable learning environment. I am currently enrolled at Montclair University to obtain my Masters in Reading and Reading Specialist Certificate.

I hope you all have had a wonderful summer and are just as excited as I am to get back to school. It was so exciting seeing some of you at my wedding in August! I am looking forward to an exciting year.

  • Whole Brain Teaching is a research-based approach that utiltizes all areas of the brain to keep children engaged throughout lessons and helps to retain more information than the stnadard lecture-discussion model. Whole brain teaching is a highly interactive form of instruction that delivers information to students in chunks. Kids have the opportunity to teach what they learned to peers using geatures and specific language to help remember and practice vocabulary. Research hass shown that students retain more information when they have an opportunity to put it into their own words and use gestures to emphasize key instructional skills.
