Most of the classrooms at Haworth Public
School contain a fish tank. This project was originally funded
by the Home and School Association. The work of maintaining the
tanks is handled by the "Guppy Club," a group of dedicated
seventh grade band members headed by Mr. Nasta, resident fish
expert.
Additionally, several staff members care for a couple of unusual animals.

| Chet Gecko resides
in a tank in the library and is named for a character in a detective
series by Bruce Hale. He is an African Fat-tailed gecko who loves
to eat crickets. His colors are quite vibrant because he has
just shed his skin. You can see pieces of it on the left side
of the picture and on his feet, which take awhile to shed. |
