The Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program has been a part of the history of Haworth for many years. This program aligns with the State requirements for GATE and the Core Content Curriculum Standards. We work to continually identify, challenge, and nurture the students. This program is open to all students, and each year students are eligible to qualify.

The GATE program is a "pull out" program. The students who enter the program are asked to go above and beyond the traditional curriculum .They are asked to creatively meet a range of challenges that may include building bridges, understanding aerodynamics, writing plays, exploring art, researching and teaching history and world issues, creating heroes, and setting up businesses. They are also asked to compete with all the schools in the Valley in academic and creative competitions.

GATE students are asked to do two things: the first is to respect and maintain excellence in all of their classes, and the second is to show a passion for creating and enthusiasm for learning.
